TomTom's India-specific navigation app is loaded with features. Apartan intuitive user interface, you get offline, voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation as well as lane guidance. However, before you start using the app, you are required to download theIndia map which is a hefty 800MB + in size.

Any new updates require you to download the entire map again — a major issue considering the large size. Once the map is downloaded, you can set a route via street address, landmark or latitude /longitude. The app then displays the fastest and most accurate route. If you do notthe route, you can view alternatives before starting voice navigation. The level of detail for Indian cities in impressiveas the app was able to locate 99% of the places we searched. The interface is easy to use with large icons and offers various configuration options including map colours, 2D/3D driving views and the option to show/hide street names on the map.

A 'Drive Safely' feature is built in — the app will notify you when a school or place of worship is nearby or when you are driving too fast. After about 30 minutes of navigation, the app consumes around 15% of the phone's battery on an average.

Priced at 2,050 with free lifetime map updates , TomTom India has an impressive list of features. However, we don't see many people going for it because Sygic and MapmyIndia's navigation app with similar features is now free for Android.
