03-Jul-2018

Rajasthan government is coming up with interesting initiatives to boost talent creation within the state.

The Government of Rajasthan has launched the code from home online hackathon 2018. In the age of gig economy and remote working, the government wants to offer flexibility to the Hackathon participants. The state government announced the hackathon soon after the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was conferred ‘Chief Minister of the Year’ award for her remarkable work in e-governance.

The online hackathon is part of ‘Challenge for Change’ platform, which is built to boost the state government’s iStart Startup Program. The Department of Information Technology and Communication (DoITC) gives startups, students and professionals to work with the state government.

The government plans to develop innovative tech-based solutions to resolve problems and bring in the desired change in different industries. Challenge for Change initiative was launched in August 2017 as part of Rajasthan’s iStart initiative. The initiative has attracted more than 1.33 lakh people so far.

The Online Hackathon 2018 is going to be a 36-hour coding competition. The state government aims to get an ingenious idea on any of the following 12 themes - Bhamashah Yojana, e-Mitra, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, augmented reality/virtual reality, the blockchain, machine learning, data warehouse, tourism, bioinformatics, big data, and data mobility.

The government is inviting any coder, designer, developer or anyone who enjoys building tech solutions. The hackathon will be organized from 6 PM on July 6th and it will end at 6 AM on July 8th. The participants have to code for selected 15 hours whenever it suits them. Winners of the hackathon will receive prizes such as iPads, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Rajasthan state government is committed to building innovation through startups. The government recently concluded IT Day 2018 Fest, which provided a platform to e-mitras, education providers, students, and startups. The festival also included events, programs such as TechRush, Hackathon 4.0, Eduhack, Green-a-thon, and the eMitra/ITGK Connect.
