Why this company is urging its employees to learn emerging tech
31-Jul-2018

Accenture is gearing up to meet the demands of future IT industry. The tech firm is pushing its existing workforce to acquire skills like artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, data science, internet of things (IoT) and blockchain.

India’s $160-billion IT industry is concerned about the falling margins in the traditional IT services. Top IT firms are empowering its employees to upskill and acquire some knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, the blockchain, data science and IoT. Most of these firms have an independent training center to train their workforce on these technologies.

Accenture has identified the trends of constantly changing tech sector. The company is asking their employees to learn more about new sectors like artificial intelligence, analytics, IoT, data science, and blockchain. The company has always followed a culture of innovation for its workforce.

The American tech firm has acquired a number of AI firms in the last year. California-based Real-Time Analytics platform has strengthened Accenture’s AI and cognitive capabilities. The platform leverages AI, machine learning, neural networks and natural language processing (NLP) to make data-driven decisions.

These capabilities can complement the existing functionality of Accenture’s Touches Testing Platform. As the company is working towards improving its Touchless Testing platform, it will need a skilled workforce to further develop its solutions. Accenture already holds more than 250 patents related to software testing.

The software firm is trying to automate most of its testing services with an advanced AI and machine learning algorithm. Accenture believes that the transparency of their AI systems can create a major impact on the services rendered to its customers. The company will need a large pool of AI, machine learning, and blockchain talent to become part of these services.

The 4 lakh sq ft lab in Bangalore has helped Accenture in generating millions of dollars in revenue. The one-year-old facility has conducted over 120 workshops and build other innovative solutions. The company also promotes its employees to generate innovative ideas through innovation contests.

Accenture reportedly generated 40,000 ideas, out of which selected 1,000 will be deployed at client locations. Even Accenture’s workforce in India is excited about learning these emerging technologies to improve their career opportunities.
