South Korean electronics giant LG has unveiled the G2 mini, a compact version of its flagship Android smartphone G2. The company is expected to showcase the device at forthcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona scheduled to start on February 24.

According to GSMInfo.nl, the LG G2 mini sports a 4.7-inch screen, which is comparatively larger than the mini variants of smartphones launched by companies like HTC, Sony and Samsung. Unlike the LG G2, the G2 mini's display is not a full-HD one and instead features a resolution of 540 X 960p.

The phone will come in two variants - one powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and the other running an Nvidia Tegra 4i chip along with 1GB RAM. The G2 mini will sport an 8MP rear camera and a 1.3MP front facing camera. It will come with Android 4.4 KitKat and 8GB internal storage expandable via a microSD card.

The phone will be powered by a 2,440 mAh battery and will feature rear mounted Power and Volume rocker keys, just like the LG G2. The G2 mini will include some of the software features included in its bigger sibling including Guest Mode and KnockON.

The LG G2 mini will come in white, black, red and gold colour variants. The phone will reportedly first launch in Russia, followed by roll out in Middle East, Latin America, Asia and European markets.
