Strict government rules in India, a deterrent for Tesla

India has been consistently trying to convince Tesla Inc. to establish a factory in the country, but unfortunately, Elon Musk isn't ready to commit to it yet. Musk has written in a tweet that "Would love to be in India, Some challenging government regulations, unfortunately." He also wrote that Tesla would make its entry in the country once Chief Financial Officer Deepak Ahuja, who is in India gives the green signal. Musk mentioned that they had sought a temporary waiver of import penalties and other constraints the Indian Government last year till the time a local facility would be available.

Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer of the electric-vehicle maker Tesla Inc. tweeted, that because of some restrictive policy environment followed by South Asian country has created obstacles for local production. Recently, the Palo Alto, California-based company was to start a factory in China. It would be Palo Alto's first production unit outside US shores as China has shown leniency in rules to carmakers such as Tesla.

Meanwhile, Tesla also plans to reveal China plant location by early third quarter.

Regardless of the fact that, India has Asia's third-largest economy, most of the foreign investors are not convinced in establishing an ally in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assurance "more than 1,400 archaic laws that were an obstacle to doing business have been abolished," have also failed to convince these foreign investors.

India puts off the plans of marketing 10,000 Electric cars to 2019.
