AI and security are top priorities, says Google
30-Jul-2018

Google kicked off its annual event, “Next”, which is being organized for the third consecutive year in San Francisco. The event highlights that artificial intelligence (AI) and security are top priorities for Google among a host of other services that the company offers.

Many updates in the Google Cloud apps were announced at Next 2018. Pichai said that their mission is to organize information meticulously and make sure that it has universal accessibility.

The CEO further added that he is proud of the huge steps Google has taken in the field of AI. The company’s work has led to a positive impact on the healthcare sector. AI is providing predictive inputs, and diagnosing diseases. The tech is even capable of predicting the level of risk. This is what Google’s Cloud Journey is all about, said Pichai. Every layer of Cloud operation has a high level of data encryption, ensuring all the fears regarding the safety and security of sensitive data.

Google has already invested most of its resources in AI and security. The company’s focus for the next 12 months it to work on these factors. Google Cloud's top executive, Diane Green believes that AI is the number one opportunity and security the number one concern.

Pichai said, “We want to help companies of every size. From a coffee shop on the corner to complex enterprises with thousands of offices around the world. Android was launched with one phone and one carrier in 2008. Today we have an ecosystem of phone makers, mobile operators, and app developers, leading to 24,000 different devices from 1300 different brands.”

With the number of new devices entering the market and the growing usage of these devices, data security has become the top priority. 20 new security advancements to Google Cloud were announced in March. The company plans to announce 10 security products this month.

At Cloud Next, Google introduced context-aware access management and hardware key based authentication support for enterprises. The context-aware access support implements many elements of BeyondCorp, a zero-trust approach to security that Google internally uses to control employee access to its data and services.
