Tech Mahindra sets up new IT center, plans to add 200 employees
30-Jul-2018

The technology wing of Mahindra Group, Tech Mahindra has been allotted a 12000 sq. feet space in Kerela’s Technopark. The company’s planned IT center in Kerala will house 200 employees.

Shortly after Nissan’s Digital Hub announcement in Thiruvananthapuram, Tech Mahindra has unveiled its plan to have a 200 seat space in Technopark. The deal confirmation letter has been handed over by Kerela IT Park's CEO Hrishikesh Nair to Tech Mahindra GM, Palani Velu. The IT firm will start its operations in about three months.

Tech Mahindra will join the likes of Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Cognizant in running operations in the state of Kerala. This center at Ganga Tower in Technopark Phase III will mainly cater to the digital needs of the company’s global clients.

The decision to set up an operational office in Kerala was taken after Tech Mahindra’s CEO C P Gurnani met the State Chief Secretary last month. Kerela is gradually becoming a popular destination for IT companies across the world. The major support provided by the government and the skilled workforce in Kerela are the main factors why IT firms are choosing this state.

The state government has extensive plans to develop new IT spaces with advanced facilities. Technopark was established on November 18, 1990, by the Government of Kerela under then Chief Minister E K Nayanar. Companies in this IT park employ more than 56,000 employees in an area spread across 760 acres of land.

The IT park has about 400 active companies, most of them being joint ventures, domestic firms and subsidiaries of foreign companies. Technopark also offers unique facilities like a 200-seater convention center, a satellite earth station, a shopping complex called ‘Techno-mall’, as well as banks, ATMs, and restaurants on campus. The fourth phase called ‘Techno-city’ is yet to be completed. It will house companies working in areas of biotechnology, nanotechnology, and IT.
