Apple CEO Tim Cook sued over iOS 7

While Apple fans across the world rejoice over the new iOS 7 features, not everyone is in love with the new operating system. And one of the unhappy users has sued the company's CEO Tim Cook over the new version of the mobile OS.

California resident Mark Menacher, has filed a complaint against Cook, demanding that the company remove the iOS 7 install file from all devices in his family. He also asked for a compensation of $50. The install file is downloaded to iOS devices automatically when they are connected to a power source and Wi-Fi network.

This file does not download iOS 7 automatically, but prompts users to update to the new version of the operating system every time the device is restarted. Menacher complains that the file was installed by Apple without his permission.

In his filing in the Superior Court of California, Menacher has said, "Apple's disregard for customer preferences in relation to iOS 7 is corporate thuggery. Steve Jobs was reportedly rough on company employees in pursuit of happy customers, but Tim Cook apparently cultivates a culture of contempt for customer satisfaction in pursuit of corporate profits."

He has also said that he is ready to take the complaint to a higher court and see whether it can be turned into a class action lawsuit.

The roll out of iOS 7 update has faced several glitches. Users have complained of long waits while trying to download the new OS on the first day, while others have reported that the update was installed automatically, without their permission. Once an Apple mobile device is updated to iOS 7, it can be moved back to a previous version of the software.

iOS 7's parallax effect has made some users sick and iPhone 4 users say that the smartphone has slowed down because of the new software.

Analytics firm Mixpanel has said that iOS 7 is now on over 70% of all Apple mobile devices, the highest rate of adoption for the operating system.
