We're taking more photos than ever, but finding them is a challenge.
We're shooting them on our smartphones, tablets and cameras, and storing them all over. That problem has turned into a business opportunity for two new companies who hope to profit from a solution — a way to put all those photos into one place.
Kwilt is a new free app for the iPhone and it's aimed at the mass user. Mylio, which targets photographers and power shooters, has a wider range — both the smartphone and app collection as well as photos stored on computer hard drives.
"Pictures from the vacation used to be taken on one camera. Now, all of a sudden, my vacation is in ten different places," says Kevin Gilbert, the "Memory Evangelist" for Mylio.
Kwilt is ad-free until January; afterwards, Kwilt will charge a $2.99 yearly fee to kill the ads. Mylio charges a yearly subscription fee, starting at $100.
