Most American think that AI is a threat to their jobs: Survey

Amid the fears that artificial intelligence will lead to huge job losses in near time, the most of the Americans think that it desires their own position.

In spite of the fact that, there is a decline in employment, in general, people widely embrace artificial intelligence in mindset and in day-to-day life. According to the latest survey reports, released on March 6, around five of every six Americans now utilize a product or service that features artificial intelligence.

Frank Newport, the Editor in Chief of Gallup, which conducted the survey with Northeastern University, said, “Whether they know it or not, A.I. has moved into a big percent of Americans’ lives in one way or another already.”

As per the study, artificial intelligence is just a technology that can carry out a task as humans do. However, the key findings reveal that how exactly certain products become a vital part of American life.

Around 84% of Americans utilize navigation apps like Google Maps, Waze and Apple Maps, whereas about 72% of respondents said they streamed music or video with services like Netflix and Pandora.

Almost half respondents said that they used personal assistants on their smartphones, while around 32% use ride-sharing apps. Some 22% used intelligent home personal assistants, like Google Home or Amazon’s Alexa and 20% said they use a smart home device, such as a self-learning light or thermostat.

Further, the technologies were utilized most extensively among younger and more educated Americans: More than 90% of adults with at least a bachelor’s degree or between the ages of 18 and 35 used navigation apps, for instance.

The survey was conducted on nearly 3,300 American adults during the period of September to October.

The findings of an alternative study, released in January, show that more than three in every four Americans believe that artificial intelligence will essentially transform the lives and working approaches in the coming decade. About the similar share anticipate that artificial intelligence will destroy more jobs than it creates, however, only about one of four were bothered about losing their own job.
