New Delhi: Job growth has been consistently strong in recent months and February 2018 continued this trend with a spike of 3% in hiring activities. Compared to last year (between February 2017 and February 2018) this year has registered a 2% increase in overall talent demand.
RecruiteX - a hiring trend report by recruitment portal TimesJobs - noted that with overall job market witnessed a rise of 3% in February 2018. The key industries and functional areas also posted significant rise in demand. Across experience segments, demand was highest for senior professionals with experience of over 20 years.
Industry-wise analysis: Retail sees maximum growth
The retail sector in India registered 13% rise in hiring in February 2018, followed by 10% rise in talent demand in the consumer durables/FMCG sector. The automobiles sector saw a 9% rise in talent demand.
"As anticipated by the RecruiteX data analysis in January, automobiles sector took the lead this month. Retail surged ahead to be the top employment generator, followed closely by the consumer durables/FMCG sector. The overall rise in talent demand is a clear indicator of the prevailing optimism in the recruitment landscape. Functional area analysis: Editorial profiles in demand
Content writers, journalists and editors witnessed 19% rise in demand in February 2018, followed by human resource professionals which witnessed a 15% rise in talent demand. Logistics, supply chain management profile witnessed 11% rise in demand on month-on-month analysis.
Location-wise analysis: Chennai records the highest demand
Among key locations, Chennai recorded the highest rise in talent demand of 14% as per the latest RecruiteX report. Bengaluru saw a rise of 11% in the talent sourcing activities, while Delhi-NCR posted stable hiring. Chandigarh witnessed 10% rise in talent demand.
Experience-wise analysis: Professionals with over 20 years of experience in demand
Hiring for professionals with over 20 years of experience witnessed the highest rise in demand during February 2018. This experience category witnessed 20% rise in demand, followed by professionals with 10-20 years of experience, who posted 8% rise in demand.
