An Indian engineering student has developed a revolutionary tech that can save lives on the road. Archit Agarwal, the student of UPES has received a national award for his invention.
The OBDAS tech based on data interpretation and diagnostic of a vehicle. The technology uses vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system. The plug-and-play technology can play a massive role in automobile, auto insurance companies. Archit’s technology is called ‘On-Board Diagnostic Data Analysis System - OBDAS.’
The engineering student has received Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award 2018. Agarwal received the award at Festival of Innovation (FOIN) held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Agarwal’s technology can help in providing an instant response in case of an accident.
Archit Agarwal, the student behind this invention said, “To be at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and receiving this prestigious award in the presence of our President for my technological innovation was an overwhelming experience for me. The competition was extremely challenging with close to 13,000 projects from over 500 colleges across India. OBDAS is a low-cost universal solution for vehicles and it’s many benefits include sending the location of the vehicle in case of an accident to emergency services that may prevent deaths due to vehicular accidents.”
The tech can further be used in system diagnostics and performance evaluation of the car. Automobile companies can use the technology to track real-time health and performance of the vehicle. Agarwal has also integrated anti-theft and surveillance functionality within the technology. OBDAS system instantly sends the location of the car to emergency services in case of an accident.
