On March 27, IT giant Wipro announced that it has set up a tech-centre in Plano, Texas and plans to increase its US headcount more than 2000 over the next five years.
Presently, this Bengaluru-headquartered IT company employs around 1,400 people in Texas. The company made this declaration following a visit of Texas Governor Greg Abbott and senior officials of the state’s administration to its Indian headquarters.
The new Texas centre will employ 150 people and the company plans to increase further. Wipro has 40 facilities over 23 US states, including Dallas and Houston.
Abidali Z Neemuchwala, CEO of Wipro said, “Our technology centre in Plano is the latest milestone in our growing operations in Texas, and is testament to the local talent pool and the robust support offered by the state to the technology sector.”
The company employs more than 13,000 people in the US, 55% of which are locals.
