The mixed efforts between the private sector and state government are going to help an Indian state produce thousands of blockchain developers. The state of Kerala will have 25,000 Blockchain professionals by 2021.
The Kerala State Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC) has launched a new program for engineering students. The government wants to motivate the students to learn emerging technologies. The idea is to benefit the first-movers advantage and make Kerala the largest supplier of blockchain experts in the country.
K-DISC’s has launched a program called ‘The Accelerated Blockchain Competency Development Program’ for students. The 12-month training program can product 5,000 certified students in a year. K-DISC is looking at Blockchain as a challenge to produce the mass number of experts.
KM Abraham, the Council’s Chairman said, “The idea is to provide them with an early-mover advantage and position the State as the largest supplier of Blockchain technologists in the country.” The state will regain its ability to create and export trained manpower with this program.
The Accelerated Blockchain Competency Development Program is open for diploma holders, graduates and graduate students engineering or science backgrounds. They can apply online for the program. The council plans to offer the training material through an online platform to extend the reach of the program to working professionals as well.
The program is divided into three modules - Blockchain Associate, Blockchain Developer and Blockchain Architect. The course will be delivered by the Kerala Blockchain Academy, which is part of R&D Department in IIITMK.
The candidates can either opt to obtain a foundational skills certificate in full-stack and intermediate level skills. The full-stack program is of 124-hour duration, developed by the ICT Academy of Kerala.
The entry to enroll in the program is not open for all. There will be an entrance test, which will be conducted in July and the curriculum will begin in August. Students need to complete the full-stack certification with certain grades to qualify for the program. The state government has partnered with the International body, Blockchain Education Network to offer the developer certification.
