Cloud-based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) has created a lot of buzz in recent years. Cloud-based CRM packages offer flexibility and depth of functionality which is head to head with traditionla rival products. The major difference between on-premise and cloud CRM is that cloud CRM services feature centrally stored data while on-premise stores data on individual client devices. However, large organisations are still reluctant to move CRM to cloud from premise. Most of these companies have security concerns while moving to Cloud. On the other hand, smaller companies find the low cost associated with Cloud-based CRM attractive and are more open towards moving to Cloud.
One may choose to keep CRM at premise or move it to the Cloud, but in the latter case an organisation needs to be extra cautious during the migration process. Dinesh Chandrasekhar, director, Consulting Services, Hitachi Consulting GDC, says it’s ideal to be aware of the usual do’s and don’ts if someone is willing to migrate CRM from premise to Cloud.
