For those oblivious, Motorola has already launched the Z2 Play in the US. The smartphone has a metal unibody design and is sleeker compared to its predecessor. It has rounded edges and a physical Home button that also doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right side, while the SIM card tray sits on the left. A USB Type-C charging port is placed at the bottom and a 3.5mm audio jack is at the top. The rear panel houses the camera module and magnetic pins that are used to connect Moto Mods.

Moto Z2 Play has a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display of 1,080x1,920 pixel resolution. Running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box, it is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM. It offers 32GB/64GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards.

Talking about the camera, the Z2 Play features a 12MP rear camera with laser and dual auto-focus, as well as LED flash. There's also a 5MP front camera with Moto's first dual CCT flash for selfies and video calling. The smartphone offers 4G VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C as connectivity options. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery, which is a bit smaller when compared to the 3,510mAh battery of the Z Play.
