Facebook-owned WhatsApp is all set to introduce new features for the Android users soon. The instant messaging app has rolled out new features in the beta version on Android. The fresh features include live location sharing and ability to customise the text status.
As per WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that tracks changes in WhatsApp's beta builds, revealed the new changes. The WhatsApp beta version 2.27.213 brings the live location feature, which was hidden in the previous beta built. The live location feature can be enabled by going to the Privacy settings and it allows the users to share their live locations with their contacts. This feature will also enable the users to keep a track of the location of their friends in real time.
Along with this, the beta version also brings the ability to send text status updates to their contacts using the 'new text status' option. The option is hidden under the Status -> Privacy settings. Moreover, the instant messaging app will allow the users to customise their text statuses by adding background colours, emoji's and two type of fonts. The users will also be able to format the text in bold, italics and strikethrough, or even add FixedSys font.
Recently, WhatsApp started rolling out 'Pinned Chats' feature for all Android users. As the name suggests, the new chat-pinning functionality is intended to make it easier for users to pin important chats on the top of the conversation list. Once a conversation is pinned, it stays on the top of the list even if new messages are received.
Users can pin up to three individual or group chats on the top of the list. Users just need to tap and hold a chat, and then tap the pin icon placed next to the delete, mute and archive options. Once done, the chat will be moved to the top. In case a user wants to unpin the chat, they can do so by long pressing the chat and selecting the unpin option.
